Three Filipino Oil Workers Abducted in Libya
(PNA) — Three Filipino oil workers were abducted by armed men in Central Libya, the Department of Foreign Affairs said late Wednesday night.
In a statement, the DFA said the Filipinos were among seven foreigners kidnapped by unidentified armed men at the Mabruk Oil Field on Feb. 3.
The DFA did not provide further details, but said Philippine officials in Libya are monitoring the situation and coordinating closely with the SOGEPI SRL Italy Company, employer of the Filipinos, “in ensuring their well-being and safe return.”
Manila is enforcing mandatory evacuation for some 4,000 Filipinos due to the ongoing civil strife, but many are reluctant to leave for fear of losing their jobs in Libya. (PNA) FPV/MDC/EBP
