Thousands Witness Lapu’s “Kadaugan sa Mactan” Reenactment
Thousands braved the scorching heat early this morning just to witness the 13th reenactment of the “Kadaugan sa Mactan” in Lapu-Lapu City.
As early as 7a.m. the Mactan Shrine, where the reliving of the Battle that happened 492 years ago was to take place, hundreds of city residents and guests were already surrounding the area.
Mayor Paz Radaza, in her speech, said the city celebrated two victories today: one was the victory of the Filipinos headed by Lapulapu himself and the other was their fight against the airing of a diaper commercial that allegedly mocks the said historical battle.
Meanwhile, in a press conference shortly after the event, Radaza clarified that the airing of EQ diaper commercial will have yet to be stopped tomorrow, as per order of the Advertising Standard Council.
