“Nalipay ug nagpasalamat gyod mi ni Mayor Mike Rama kay maayo iyang gibuhat nga natubag among mga kinahanglan dinhi sa among lugar,” thus said Lola Irenea Torrecampo, 75, one of the Allen Sanchez, 38, one of the thousands of residents of Barangay Guadalupe who availed of the free services during the “City Hall at Your Doorstep” held Monday morning March 14, 2016 in Sitio Panaghin-usa in the said barangay.

In an interview with the BARUGG News, Lola Irenea who availed of the medical consultation further shared that the activity is of great hep to the people especially the less fortunate.

For Leonida Mojado, 35, who brought her 1-year-old daughter and availed of the medical consultation, she pointed out, “Nagpasalamat gyod mi Sir kay nalibre among pacheck-up kay mahal baya karon kung adto sa private hospital. Maayo ni nga programa kay libre na ang konsulta naa pay libreng tambal.”

Guadalupehanons also availed the various basic services from the 22 departments of the city government which served as a one-stop shop with avail-all-services-you-can system on a first-come, first served basis.

Meanwhile, the “City Hall at Your Doorstep” is an initiative of Mayor Rama launched in 2010 and already institutionalized. It is conducted daily in line with the commitment of the Rama administration to bring the city government services closer to the people sans going to the different offices in Cebu City Hall.

Dubbed as “Feast of Free Services” the community outreach program is continuously extending helping hands to the Cebuanos.

Looking back, as it formally resumed its operation this year, Barangay Guadalupe was the first barangay who hosted the program for the fourth time around last January 8.

The barangay is the largest among the city’s 80 villages in terms of population size which has more than 68 thousand residents living in at least 84 Sitios. It is situated in the city’s South District and about 7 kilometers or 15 to 20 minutes (taking a public utility jeepney) away from the Cebu City Hall.

Even if the village is known as an opposition bailiwick at least some barangay workers showed support for the activity such as information drive and assistance for the registration and getting the vital signs.

The all-out support of everyone wrapped-up the great success of the activity which ended around 12 noon until everyone were served. (Cebu City Public Information Office PIO/Greggy Jiggs P. Senados)
