This Smart Mirror Will Give On-the-Spot Compliments
London-based furniture company IKEA has recently installed a mirror at their store in Wembley in which it will be able to read shoppers’ body and features and offer them a personalized compliment, like how that beard looks great on them, and so on. This is achieved through the use of an Xbox Kinect motion sensor technology which can detect the shoppers’ facial and body features and then activates a corresponding compliment stored within the system.
According to one shopper who had an encounter with the mirror, “I was walking down the aisle, and this amazing mirror just whistled at me. Great for me, I never get compliments. I could have stood there all day to be honest.”
Earlier this year, IKEA’s Life At Home report revealed that a morning self-esteem boost can work wonders on a person’s demeanor for the day. The mirror addresses a deeper truth that the majority of people are critical rather than accepting of their physical appearance, according to the study.
