The SLP Beneficiaries Celebrate Success

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) recently held a commencement ceremony to the fifty (50) graduates under the Pharmacy Services NC II and Hilot (Wellness Massage Services) NC II.

Ms. Mahlou Villaflor from Center for Healthcare Professions (CHP) Cebu Inc. said that the twenty-five (25) successful graduates of Pharmacy Services NC II from Cordova, Cebu was the first and the last batch of graduates because the program will step up to NC III level on the fourth quarter of this year.

The class lasted for thirty-four (34) days which started March 6, 2017. It took them twenty-one (21) days for classroom training and 2 weeks on the job training at the Three-Sixty Pharmacy.

The CHP gave at least eight (8) awards to those deserving students, to wit: Annrose J. Caballes (Leadership Award), Jhenelou A. Indoc and Sheila Lynn B. Notarion (Most Determined Award), Genieveve C. Onglao (Service Award), Glyndel A. Rosalita (Neatness Award), Raffy R. Trazona (Best in Conduct), Joshua P. Tolero (Best in Academics) and Cheramie N. Navidad for the highest award as the Most Outstanding Trainee.

Cheramie Navidad, 23, from Bangbang Cordova, Cebu is the bread winner of the family. She is the eldest among the 3 siblings and shoulders her siblings’ education.

Cheramie in her journey to this Pharmacy Services NC II course has changed her views and perceptions in life. “Dili angay mawagtangan og paglaom. Padayon lang gihapon nga mangandoy. Gamiton ang utok ug dili palabi sa gugma” (We must not lose hope. Continue to dream. Use the head and not too much of emotion), said Cheramie. She exerts double effort to this for she wants to become an effective student. She was even surprised when awarded as the Most Outstanding Trainee of their batch. Cheramie expressed her gratefulness to the people who have supported the implementation of SLP.

Moreover, twenty-five (25) beneficiaries of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) have celebrated their achievement, the Hilot (Wellness Massage) NC II graduates of Consolacion, Cebu.

The training took 15 days from April 25, 2017- May 11, 2017 with the assistance from the CHP as the program’s service provider.

Mayor Teresa Alegado of the Mucipality of Consolacion was grateful to the program. Sharing her words of wisdom to the graduates, she said, “Kun magkugi lang ta, naa gyud tay mabitbit. Ang puhunan ninyo niini mao ang maayo’ng kabubut-on, maayo’ng pangamot ug maayo’ng pamatasan. Pasalamati ninyo ang Ginoo ni-ining tanan” (If we are diligent, we have enough to gain. Free-will, skills and good character are your best investment. Give thanks to our God for all of these things).

The CHP gave at least six (6) awards to deserving students: Lorena L. Amodia (Neatness Award) Bibilina P. Capablanca (Service Award) Ma. Paloma Mayol O (Best in Conduct), Leonora D. Sugarol (Symbol of Hope and Endurance Award) Joven F. Torrefiel (Leadership Award) and Princess C. Satera got the title as the Most Outstanding Trainee.

Princess C. Satera, 18 years old from Nangka Consolacion, Cebu, finished her two years associate course of Information Technology (IT) at the Consolacion Community College. Her family is one of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries for three (3) years. She is the second among the eight (8) siblings.

Princess joined the program to be trained and earn income in the future for her studies and to help her family. She shared her words of hope to her fellow graduates and said, “Dili gyud babag ang kalisod para makab-ot ang mga pangandoy sa kinabuhi. (Being less fortunate is never a hindrance to reach the dreams in life).”

“This is one step closer to success,” said Princess, who aims to study Civil Engineering in the near future.
