With the technological advancements that constantly surround our lives; many of us tend to forget the sheer wonders of reading books.
Ever thought of reading rather than watching the movie? No? It’s thought so. Most of us don’t have the time, effort or will to read so we just pick the less effort and less time-consuming option which is watching a movie or a series and that’s okay. But there’s a whole heap of benefits that you’re missing out. And these will be extremely of use to you in the years to come especially when you have 60 or more candles on your birthday cake.
Here are some of the few benefits of reading that you can acquire:
1. Reduces stress and anxiety— Reading just like listening to music is a great way to reduce stress and anxiety. When you lose yourself in a story, your brain becomes distracted and thus it tends to loosen all your tensions making you more relaxed.
2. Helps you get some shut eye— In addition to reducing stress and anxiety, reading calms the mind, and helps the body get ready for sleep. Of course Divergent, Hunger Games and the like are an exception.
3. Knowledge mine–Reading various types of books exposes you to various kinds of topics, ideas, insights and things you can learn from. It keeps your vocabulary wide and your knowledge wider. The knowledge you can get from books is limitless.
4. Sharpens your mind–Reading is a mentally stimulating activity. Meaning it’s a great workout for the brain. Reading constantly can help slow down memory decline and mental decay. It’s essentially important for a healthy brain in an old age. (Curated by Daryll Arcayan)
