‘Testing Through Fire’

“The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tests the heart.” Proverbs 17:3

“Remove the dross from the silver, and a silversmith can produce a vessel;” Proverbs 25:4

As precious metals are refined by fire, so your life, which is precious to God, is refined and purified in the fire of adversity. It is only through refining that the impurities are removed. When the liquid metal is completely purified, the refiner’s image appears on its surface. Likewise, through suffering, God’s image will appear more and more clearly in you.

“This third I will put into the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say, ‘They are my people,’ and they will say, ‘The Lord is our God.’” Zechariah 13:9

“He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then the Lord will have men who will bring offerings in righteousness,” Malachi 3:3
