Teleperformance Joins International AIDS Candlelight Memorial
Teleperformance, the worldwide leader in outsourced omnichannel customer experience management services, recently joined the rest of the world in commemorating the lives lost due to HIV and AIDS through the Philippine International AIDS Candlelight Memorial (PIACM).
Across all its 18 business sites in the country, Teleperformance employees congregated outside its office buildings last May 19 from 7:00 PM onwards and lit candles in remembrance of friends and family who have been lost due to AIDS.
In conjunction with the global commemoration, Teleperformance partnered with the Department of Health (DOH), the Project Red Ribbon, and the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine – AIDS Research Group (RITM-ARG), to help curb the mounting global epidemic. In this regard, Teleperformance initiated an information drive on HIV among its employees through multiple channels such as posters, awareness talks, email, and internal communication platforms.
Jeffrey Johnson, Senior Vice President for Human Capital Resource Management, expressed the company’s strong commitment towards HIV and AIDS awareness. “Teleperformance is doing its share of driving social awareness to help combat HIV prevalence. The best way to do this is to make sure our teams are well-informed so they can make responsible decisions in safeguarding their health. On top of our information dissemination campaign, Teleperformance offers free HIV screening for our people across all our sites,” Johnson said.
The International AIDS Candlelight Memorial is a worldwide event coordinated by the Global Network of People living with HIV. It is one of the world’s oldest and largest mobilization campaigns for HIV awareness. Started in 1983, the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial takes place every third Sunday in May and is led by a coalition of some 1,200 community organizations in 115 countries.
