Teens, Children Urged to Get Vaxxed, Expanded Face-to-Face Classes Eyed
The Visayas Vaccination Operation Center (VVOC) urged parents to vaccinate their children against COVID-19 to prepare for a possible face-to-face class this year.
VVOC is eying ways to entice more children ages 12 below and teens aged 12 to 17 to get vaccinated.
In Metro Cebu, over 42,000 children ages 5 to 11 are fully vaccinated. Meanwhile, 338,840 teens ages 12 to 17 are also fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
The Department of Education (DepEd) plans to open more face-to-face classes at the start of the School Year 2022-2023 on August 22.
There are already over 17,000 schools ready for next school year’s expanded face-to-face classes.
Moreover, on March 23, DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones clarified that vaccination is not a requirement for children if they wish to join the face-to-face classes. (ASC)
