Taxi Driver Robbed, Shot Dead in Cebu City
A taxi driver was robbed and shot to death by his three passengers Tuesday night in 5th St., Happy Valley, Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.
Police identified the victim as Jose Medrano Sering Jr. of Barangay Pajac, Lapu-Lapu City. It was also learned that Sering was a retired policeman who served in Bohol.
Based on the initial investigation conducted by the police, Sering possibly put up a fight with the perpetrators but was overpowered as there were three of them.
He sustained gunshot wounds in his chest and other parts of the body. He was slumped in the driver’s seat when the responding police arrived.
Reports have said that the area is a “robbers’ zone” considering the several robbery incidents that happened here involving taxi drivers.
Suspects Arrested
Police arrested this afternoon the four suspects of the killing of a taxi driver in Happy Valley, Guadalupe, Cebu City.
Arrested were 19-year-old Jano Nasira, a 17-year-old male, Armand Patulan, 21 and Carlito Barbon Jr., 21, all are residents of Sitio Lotao-Lotao, Labangon, Cebu City.
Witnesses however positively identified Barbon and Patulan as the culprits behind the killing of Jose Medrano Sering, Jr.
The suspects reportedly robbed and shot Sering while they were on board his taxi cab Tuesday night. The cab was in the dark portion of 5th St, Happy Valley when the crime was committed.
