Tanods, Health Workers and Nutrition Scholars Receives Health Insurance

Over 20,000 barangay tanods, health workers and nutrition scholars will now be covered with the life and accident insurance of the Cebu Provincial Government.

Under the said resolution approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and authorized by Provincial Board Member Jose Mari Salvador, barangay workers covered by the insurance will receive P2,500 in case of an accident while P25,000 incase of death.

There are 27,300 tanods, health workers and nutrition scholars all over Cebu Province.

The budget for the life and accident insurance of the Cebu Provincial Government is P6 million with the Fortune Life Insurance Company Inc.

Salvador said that the barangay workers need the insurance because they are exposed to daily work risks.

Salvador also plans to extend the insurance coverage to all barangay workers but will depend on the available budget of the Provincial Government.
