Homegrown liquor brand Tanduay Distillers continues to ramp up global expansion efforts with a new US state market in its sights amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

Tanduay partnered with Arizona beverage wholesaler Hensley Beverage Company for the distribution of its liquor products in the state.

With the distribution of Tanduay products in the Arizona in place, Hensley Beverage Company Chief Sales Officer Chad Marston said that they expect the Philippine-made rum to have a strong customer following in the state.

“We expect the market to embrace Tanduay Rum as a truly unique offering. While Tanduay is massive internationally, it is still relatively new to the United States. Rum is a popular spirit in Arizona and Tanduay will help drive category growth,” Marston said.

Moreover, Tanduay Executive Vice President Kyle Tan, who led the Hensley Beverage Company partnership efforts, preached the importance of working together with different organizations who share similar values to drive growth.

“Our partnerships have been crucial to our success in the most recent years. It is important that we work with organizations that share our values like Hensley Beverage Company. Like them, Tanduay is a home-grown brand that prioritizes excellence as shown by the quality we put in the craftsmanship of our products,” Tan said in a statement Wednesday.

Tanduay, which is the world’s No. 1 rum in terms of sales for three consecutive years, has also received awards from international wines and spirits competitions in China, Europe, and the US.

In the US, Tanduay is currently available in the states of Arizona, California, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee, and Wisconsin, and the territory of Guam.

Furthermore, the homegrown brand is also available on other countries such as China, select cities in Europe, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates.

The Philippines has seen rising prominence in the liquor industry in recent years, as another home grown liquor company Emperador Inc. continues to emerge as a player in the global liquor scene, evident with its acquisition of Spain’s Fundador Pedro Domecq and Bodegas Fundador, which is Spain’s largest and oldest brandy dating back to 1730.
