Talisay To Use Plastic As Diesel

The Talisay City government will soon allow the use of plastic bags as these would form part in its next venture, which is turning used plastics into diesel.

“Basin i-repel namo ang Anti-Plastic Ordinance kay manginahanglan man ta’g plastic para mahimong diesel,” said city spokesperson Vince Monterde.

Last year, the city implemented the Anti-Plastic Ordinance, which bans the use of plastic bags in grocery stores, it these were found out to be one of the causes of flooding. But Monterde said since the city will earn 10 percent the diesel generated from plastics it may be a good idea.

Monterde said a private firm, which proposed to build a recycling plant in Talisay City, has promised to generate P40 million as monthly income, in which the city will get 10 percent from it. Monterde said in return the city must provide at least 100 tons of plastics a day or P4 million per month, and that if it could double its plastic wastes, it could also earn twice as much.
