Talisay City mayor and now Congressman-elect Eduardo Gullas formally bid farewell to all employees of the Talisay City Hall and all Talisaynon during the farewell session of the 6th Sangguniang Panglungsod (City Council), yesterday, at the Talisay City Hall’s session hall.

During his speech, Gullas expressed his happiness to serve the people of Talisay for quite some time.

Gullas also said that words alone are not enough to give gratitude to his second in command, Vice Mayor Alan Bucao and to all the city councilors.

“Words are inadequate to thank the distinguished leaders and the presiding officer of the 6th Sangguniang Panglungsod, Dr. Alan Bucao,” Gullas said.

Gullas personally gave gratitude to all the city councilors saying that through their thorough study of the resolutions, right implementation of ordinances and especially the love for their job as a public servant, they helped to make the city of Talisay a progressive place.

Gullas will assume office on June 30 as the congressman of the Cebu South first district.

Meanwhile, his grandson, Talisay City Mayor-elect Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas will also assume office on June 30 along with the whole Alayon slate.

Eddie Gullas and Samsam Gullas switched government office positions as Mayor of Talisay and Congressman of the 1st district.

Meanwhile, 4 outgoing city councilors were also recognized during the farewell session.

Councilors Val Ylanan, Arturo Bas, Choy Aznar and Dory Emit spoke before the department heads and Barangay captains to formally say their parting words.

It was known that the 6th Sangguniang Panglungsod in Talisay City made a total of 2,178 resolutions and passed 108 city ordinances and became the top performer in the field of legislation.

Vice Mayor Alan Bucao also received a plaque of recognition for being a versatile head of the City Council. (MLC)
