Talisay HR Defends Hiring of Drivers
Talisay City Human Resources Officer Hazel Bathan defended the hiring of drivers intended for City Council members, saying this is covered by an ordinance.
“There is an ordinance creating the position of driver for members of the City Council. Wa sila’y government-issued vehicle but the drivers could use the private vehicles of the SP members,” said Bathan.
Bathan, however, warned the newly-hired drivers that though the SP members can take them anywhere, it should be on official function only.
Also, she said they are time-bound which means they need to report to the City Hall to clock in and out.
The Council approved an ordinance creating the positions of the driver and secretary for all 12 members of the council including the presiding officer.
The driver has a salary grade 3 (SG3) while the secretary gets a salary grade 11 (SG11).
