Talisay Dad will be Stripped Off Committee Chairmanships

After jumping to the Liberal Party, Talisay City Councilor Dennis Basillote may lose all his committee chairmanships anytime soon.

Basillote said former ally Councilor Dory Emit has already hinted on taking his Committee on Education when his former party would finally decide to strip him off his committee chairmanships. Apart from Education, Basillote also chairs the council committee on Urban Poor. Basillote did not elaborate he is willing to surrender his chairmanships, but a reliable source told Metro Cebu News that he has no other choice but to do as what the Alayon councilors would tell him since he is no longer with the group. Last month, Basillote left Alayon after his son was defeated in the barangay elections, wherein he alleged was caused by his former party’s lack of support.

Another source, who refused to be named, said Basillote, who is assistance majority leader, will also be stripped of said position as he is no longer with the majority bloc. The Alayon, despite Basillote’s resignation, still holds the majority in the City Council, with eight of the 12 councilors in their side.
