Talisay Dad Wants to Run PB
Third-term Talisay City Councilor Dennis Basillote is now mulling on running for the Provincial Board in 2016, but still depends on the decision of his new political team.
“Ganahan unta, pero tan-awon lang nato kung mosugot ba si Mayor JVR ug ang grupo sa Liberal Party,” said Basillote in an interview in reference to Talisay City Mayor Johnny V. de los Reyes.
Basillote said so far the Liberal Party, where he belongs, has only one member in the PB in the name of Yayoy Alcoseba. The second member of the board is Julian Daan of One Cebu, who is on his third and last term.
Basillote said he has, however, many things to consider, like funding, before he finally makes a decision, but added that if his party’s support will give more weight to his decision. But he said it is still too early to tell considering that it’s still almost two years away from the 2016 polls.
Basillote used to be a member of the Alayon Party before he jumped to LP after his son was defeated in the last barangay election. The third-term councilor blamed his son’s loss in that election to Alayon Party’s unloyalty to him after it also supported the rival candidate, which later on won as barangay captain.
Following his transfer to LP, Basillote, who has been undefeated as a councilor, has become one of the de los Reyes’ closest allies.
