Talisay City to Strengthen The Use of Recycled Plastic

The city government of Talisay City will strengthen the use of recycled plastic materials.

Councilor Fe Ylanan, Chairman on the Committee on Waste Management told Metro Cebu News (MCN) that they are trying to let the public know the importance of recycling.

Ylanan said that they will create a “garbage bin net” that will be placed on all 22 barangays in the city where people can throw their plastic bottles, junked food wrappers and other recyclable materials.

Ylanan said that collected materials will be used on certain livelihood programs.

“Magamit sad ni nato himoon natong lingkoranan, lamisa ug uban pa (We can convert these recycled plastic bottles and materials into chairs, tables and many more),” Ylanan said.

Part of Ylanan’s plan is to organize a beauty pageant where a certain portion will feature a model wearing recycled plastic materials.

Ylanan strongly believes that this project can educate the people on the importance of recycling.

“So ma well educated na gyud ang mga tao nga adto na gyud ibutang tanan, nindot na kay maka realize ang mga tao nga aw kana magamit pa diay nato na (We can educate everyone and make them realize the importance of recycling. We can make them think that these plastic materials can be used once again after disposal),” Ylanan said. (MLC)
