Talisay City to Create a CENRO
The Local Government Unit of Talisay City will continue to push the creation of the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) to help solve the problem in the environment.
Talisay City Councilor Antonio “Jojo” Bacaltos Jr. explained that establishing a CENRO is significant primarily to address the city’s environment concerns.
Bacaltos said that even Mayor elect Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas also wanted to focus on establishing the CENRO.
“Usa sa concerns nga importante kaayo ni umaabot nga mayor samsam ni ingon gyud siya nga iya gyung areglahon ning bahin sa environment (One of the concerns of upcoming Mayor SamSam is to take action on the environmental aspect),” Bacaltos said.
Bacaltos said that during a meeting with Gullas, they discussed certain things on how to effectively put a CENRO in the city.
As of the moment, the city is still looking for the CENRO’s head to start off.
Bacaltos also said that there were individuals who applied for the CENRO head position but unfortunately no one has qualified yet.
The Talisay City Council approved the resolution containing the creation of CENRO in 2016.
The said resolution was sponsored by Bacaltos himself who is also the chairman on committee on environment.
Bacaltos explained that they should start to establish the CENRO this year otherwise it will be dissolved.
“Kung dili sad mabutangan ang CENRO karon ug head ang katong budget ma dissolve, mawala na asta ang item (If we cannot establish the CENRO this year, the budget and the item itself will be dissolved),” Bacaltos said.
Bacaltos pointed out that if the CENRO will be established and finished this year, it will bring a major development to the city. (MLC)
