Talisay City to Build A Waste Complex
Talisay City will modernize their waste disposal and management by building a waste complex.
Ecological Solid Waste Management (ESWM) office head Edwin Nierves said that the project is under Public-Private Partner (PPP).
The Local Government Unit of Talisay will work with Cebu Solid Waste Management Incorporated as soon as everything is ready.
Nierves explained that the city is pushing to build an Integrated Solid Waste Complex to solve the city’s garbage and waste problems.
“Mao ni siya ang mu manage sa atong sanitary landfill unya ato nang himuon ug Integrated Solid Waste Complex so therefore, ang tanan basura diri ma process na (This will manage our sanitary landfill and now we can make it an Integrated Solid Waste Complex. Therefore, all wastes can be processed.),” Nierves said.
The Integrated Solid Waste Complex includes plastic processing plant, composting facility, material recovery facility and other facilities to maximize the function of the complex.
Nierves also pointed out that this PPP is the way to help the city solve the problem on garbage and wastes.
“So kanang PPP nato mao nay maka tabang sa atong problema sa basura sa Talisay (The PPP will help us solve the city’s problem on garbage and wastes.),” Nierves said.
Nierves said that there is now a resolution and even a contract on the said PPP to build the complex.
However, the city is still looking for the boundary line in the landfill’s area for preparations.
Nierves said that both sectors are responsible for the operations and collections.
Nierves added that there are at least 150 tons of garbage per day in Talisay City. That includes garbage from institutions, malls, establishments and in all 22 barangay. (MLC)
