Talisay City Council Authorizes Mayor to Sign Sisterhood Ties with US City
Talisay City (PNA) — The Talisay City Council has approved a resolution authorizing Mayor Johnny De los Reyes to sign a sisterhood pact with Loma Linda City, California, USA.
The resolution was sponsored by Councilor Socrates Fernandez.
The pact, according to Fernandez, is aimed at strengthening ties between the two cities, fostering mutual friendship and goodwill, nurturing closer relationship among their people, as well as cultural exchanges and economic ties.
“The City of Talisay, Cebu, Philippines is replete with God-given gifts of natural resources, our clean beaches and hospitable people. This city is known for its growing business, likewise sending professional technical men and women to work in other countries,” Fernandez said.
With the approval of the resolution, the council also authorized Jeremias C. Condes, a prominent Talisay City resident, as its emissary because he also has relatives in Loma Linda City.
The Loma Linda, a Spanish phrase for “beautiful hills,” is a city in San Bernardino county, California, that was incorporated in 1970.
It has a population of 23,261 during the 2010 census up from 2000’s 18,681. (PNA) CMR/EB
