Take Your Commute to the in the Sea with MyBoat

Sea jeepneys will be a thing in Cebu after the launch of MyBoat on Tuesday at the Naga Baywalk, City of Naga, Cebu, February 19, 2019.

As traffic congestion starts to be a problem in Cebu particularly in the south, MCE Shipping launches MyBoat to ease the traffic problem and give commuters more choices to get to their respective destinations.

MyBoat is a huge catamaran. A multi-hulled watercraft featuring two parallel hulls of equal size. It is a geometry-stabilized craft, deriving its stability from its wide beam, rather than from a ballasted keel as with a monohull sailboat.

Dr. Nelson Mejia, Chief Operating Officer of MCE Shipping, led the launching of MyBus at the Naga Baywalk yesterday.

Dr. Mejia said that MyBoat could accommodate 64 passengers from Naga City to Pier 3 of Cebu City Port in 30 minutes.

The huge catamarans are 90% ready and will be delivered by Steven Deans Marine Inc., the manufacturer of the catamaran.

Aside from the catamaran, Dr. Mejia said that they will be adding a 15-seater sea jeepney for shorter routes.

Vice Admiral Narciso Vingson Jr., OIC of Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), who graced the event said he will assist MCA Shipping in completing its paperwork to serve the commuters of Cebu as soon as possible.

Mejia is also planning in putting up two more in Talisay City and Minglanilla to help commuters in those areas. (ASC)
