Taal Volcano Unrest, Raised to Alert Level 4
Alert level 4 was raised after Taal Volcano spewed magma in the early morning of January 13, 2020.
The volcano blew a 15-kilometer ash column which led authorities to raise the alert level from 2 to level 3 yesterday.
Volcanic earthquakes and ashfalls continue to affect the area which raises health concerns. The ashfall covered Batangas and also areas in Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Metro Manila.
Classes and government offices were closed and flights were canceled due to Taal volcano’s unrest.
Thousand of affected residents are being evacuated to safety as the alert level is raised to level 4 today—everyone is braced for a possible eruption.
Meanwhile, DTI also warns retailers about reports of sudden price surge of face masks, gas masks, and other related products. Retailers who are found out to be taking advantage of the sudden increase in demand for these products will face charges. (ASC)
