The statement claiming Jeffrey Aquino was already arrested April last year by the police but was released by them when the victim’s relatives sought the help from NBI, reminds me of that unfortunate incident where the PNP medico-legal Dr. Satur came out with his questionable findings after the autopsy that the cause of the victim’s death was tuberculosis, which the mother and sister of the victim vehemently refuted and denied it as false because the victim never had that kind of disease or any symptom of it. That compelled them to seek the help of NBI, where later on, it was found out by NBI medico-legal
doctors that the cause of death was due to massive force of mauling suffered by the victim from the hands of his attackers while under interrogation inside the “security room” of Metro Gaisano in Colon Street. If not for the help of NBI, just like what happened to the case of Atty. Archival’s slaying with two of his close aides, the killers of Alfie Ducayag inside the Metro Gaisano “security room” would have easily gone “scot-free” based on police findings of Dr. Satur.
In any sensational criminal case that I’ve known and remembered, it is always the NBI whom the public can possibly trust and rely for an honest and dedicated service to truthfully solve a crime compared to other police agencies.
