Suspension of Senator Enrile, Estrada Ends
Former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile and Senator Jinggoy Estrada can now perform their duties after the 90-day preventive suspension imposed by the Sandiganbayan ended.
Senate President Franklin Drilon said Monday that Enrile’s suspension ended on November 28 and Estrada’s on the next day.
Enrile and Estrada have been charged with graft and plunder in connection with the alleged P10-billion pork barrel scam.
Drilon said their entitlements and salary as members of the Senate have been reinstated, except for the fact that they cannot vote, because voting requires physical presence.
The Senate started implementing the suspensions of Enrile on September 1 and Estrada on September 2.
Drilon added the two can also resume filing bills, report said.
