Supporters of Poe, Escudero in Negros Occidental Hold Signature Drive
Bacolod City (PNA) — The Negros Occidental supporters of the tandem of Senators Grace Poe and Francis Escudero are conducting a signature campaign to gather support for their respective bids for the presidency and vice presidency in the May 2016 elections.
Former Bacolod Councilor Ricardo Tan, chairman of Friends Grace and Chiz in Negros Occidental, said the signature campaign is ongoing and they have initially gathered more than 11,000 signatures in Bacolod.
They expect to gather more signatures from all over the province, he said.
Poe and Escudero, who are both independents, have formally announced their bids for the presidency and vice president on Wednesday and Thursday.
Tan, who was among the local political personalities who attended the launching of Poe’s presidential bid in Quezon City Wednesday, said they will build up political structures to make Poe win in Negros Occidental.
“Susan Roces, Poe’s mother is from here. That is also an advantage of Poe. She is fitted to be president because of her sincerity in public service, humility, and she has so much appeal to the masses, and to the young and dynamic,” Tan said. (PNA) CTB/NLG/TDE
