Sun Life Grepa Financial Posts Robust Gains in 2015

Sun Life Grepa Financial, Inc. (SLGFI) now ranks as the 8th largest company in the life insurance industry and the fastest growing life insurer in the Insurance Commission’s Top 10 list released in April 2016. SLGFI posted a premium income of P10.15 Billion in 2015, a record 44% up from the previous year’s level.

Aside from a healthy premium income, SLGFI’s growth was also fueled by the launch of a wide array of products that cater to clients’ varying needs. The Company launched Sun Grepa Power Builder Dollar 1, a U.S. Dollar-denominated investment-linked product that gives customers the opportunity to participate in offshore investment assets; the SLG Dynamic Fund, an adaptive, agile, and flexible fund that aims to maximize returns by taking advantage of the market highs and opportunistic trades; SLG MyFuture Funds, a selection of target date-specific funds that follow a pre-determined glide path to maximize returns in its early years, before switching to capital preservation as maturity dates near; and the SLG Growth Plus Fund, an equity fund that invests in dividend-paying stock companies in the Philippine Stock Exchange.

Existing SLGFI policyholders were also given the exclusive opportunity to acquire Sun Grepa ProHealth, a critical illness insurance product without need of any medical exam.

Apart from launching new products and funds, the Company also strengthened its financial literacy advocacy by introducing a board game called “Brighter Life Praxis,” which was designed to teach people financial management lessons in a fun and entertaining way.

This 2016, SLGFI is set to strengthen its position as a major player in the life insurance and financial services industry by reinforcing its capabilities and boosting its presence in key areas outside Manila.

SLGFI is a joint venture between Sun Life Financial Philippines (Sun Life) and the Yuchengco Group of companies (YGC). YGC is one of the Southeast Asia’s largest conglomerates with over 90 companies, while Sun Life has been a top player in the Philippine market for over 120 years. The joint venture is marking its 5th anniversary this year.
