Sun Life Executives, Piolo Pascual To Lead Sun Life Tri-Team In Ironman Asia Pacific Championship
The Sun Life Tri-Team will once again see action in Cebu as it joins close to 3,000 racers in participating in the Ironman Asia Pacific Championship on August 7 at Shangri-La Mactan in Cebu.
Sun Life will be fielding a total of four relay teams, led by Sun Life Financial Asia President Kevin Strain. “We’re thrilled to be a part of the first Ironman Asia Pacific Championship that will be held outside of Australia and New Zealand.” Strain said. “Health and wellness are important thrusts of the life insurance business. By joining the race, we hope we can inspire more people to work on their fitness goals so they can enjoy a brighter life.
Strain is the designated runner of his team, while Sun Life Hong Kong Strategic Associate Director for Actuarial and Risk Brandon Kandt will handle the bike part, and Sun Life Philippines Board Member Paco Sandejas will be the team’s swimmer.
Sun Life Chief Business Development Officer Michael Manuel (bike), Sun Life Health and Wellness Manager and The Bull Runner Jaymie Pizzaro (run), and Evan Uy will also participate; while Jan Michael Chiu (swim), Toots Malapad (bike), and Don Gutierrez (run) will make up the other team.
Also participating in the Ironman for the 3rd straight year is Sun Life brand ambassador Piolo Pascual (bike), along with Larry Medenilla (swim) and Toniel Ty (run).
Incidentally, the medal that will be awarded to racers was once again designed by multi-awarded industrial designer Kenneth Cobonpue, himself a Sun Life brand ambassador.
With its participation in the prestigious sporting event, Sun Life also aims to highlight its health and wellness campaign. The company recently launched the latest addition to its suite of wellness products called SUN Fit and Well, which offers comprehensive life and health protection from childhood all the way to the golden years. “As we prepare to launch a series of initiatives to promote this new product, we will offer a glimpse of it to the participants and supporters of the Ironman Asia Pacific Championship via the Sun Life Wellness Studio which we will set up at Shangri-La Mactan from August 5 to 7,” Sun Life Chief Marketing Officer Mylene Lopa said
In the Sun Wellness Studio, visitors will have a chance to win Garmin Vivofit 3 activity trackers, join Sun Life’s new wellness community, enjoy the Money for Life 360 virtual reality experience, and bring home lots of freebies. They can also relax amid the hectic preparations for the race by enjoying free massages, healthy local snacks, and power smoothies.
There will also be a Dance to Wellness Zumba session with ZIN Jill Ngo on August 5 and 6, 5 pm, at the poolside area of Shangri-La Mactan, where the first 25 to join will get a swag bag.
“It’s an honor for Sun Life to be a part of the Ironman Asia Pacific Championship. Sports is the perfect metaphor for any endeavor because the discipline and commitment it requires are exactly what we need if we want to reach our goals in life,” Lopa said. “We hope that the Sun Life Tri Team can be an inspiration to those striving to achieve their dreams and experience a brighter life.”
