Submit Fire Inspection Reports In Polling Places, Fire Marshals Told

Local fire stations all over the province of Cebu were instructed to submit inspection reports prior to the holding of the elections.

Bureau of Fire Protection Acting Fire Marshal Chief Fire Inspector Ronaldo Orbeta said he had directed all city and municipal fire stations to submit a detailed report of the inspection conducted in all polling precincts within their respective jurisdiction.

Orbeta was the guest in the weekly Kapi Storya of the Cebu Provincial Capitol held within the assembly of the Cebu Association of City and Municipal Public Information Officers (CAOCAMPIO).

“All voting centers and nearby buildings are to be inspected by our local firemen,” Orbeta said.

All fire trucks were made sure to be in proper condition and no staff is allowed on leave a week before and after the elections.

Furthermore, Orbeta said there were lesser fire incidents recorded in the first quarter of this year.

From January to March this year, there were only 145 fire incidents recorded compared to last year’s 156 for the same period.

Common causes of fire include unattended cooking stoves, cigarette butts, improper use of matches and lighters and the usage of butane canisters.

However, in terms of cost of damage, it had increased from last year’s reported P21.5 million to P22.8 million in the first quarter of this year.(rmn/fcc/PIA7-Cebu)
