Qube Gallery presents another art event for the Cebu audience by bringing to us Street Walker : A Solo Exhibition of Vidal Alcoseba this February 12 to March 10 ,2015.

Street walker aims to chronicle the life and times of Cebu’s sex workers. It is also a social commentary on prostitution, gambling, and other illegal activities in the community.

A sex worker is a person who works in the sex industry. The term is used in reference to all those in all areas of the sex industry including those who provide direct sexual services as well as the staff of such industries. Some sex workers are paid to engage in sexually explicit behavior which involve varying degrees of physical contact with clients (prostitutes, escorts, some but not all professional dominants); pornography models and actors engage in sexually explicit behavior which are filmed or photographed.

Vidal Alcoseba or commonly known as Ondo was born on December 31, 1959 in Cebu City. He took up Fine Arts at U.P. Cebu as a Special Student. He finished his High School at Cebu Institute of Technology and right now, he is a full time artist painter and is popular in the Philippine art scene for his expressionist works. He lives in Guadalupe Village., Punta Princesa, Cebu City.

Expressionism was a modernist movement, initially in poetry and painting, originating in Germany at the beginning of the 20th century. Its typical trait is to present the world solely from a subjective perspective, distorting it radically for emotional effect in order to evoke moods or ideas.Expressionist artists sought to express meaning or emotional experience rather than physical reality.

The exhibit opens at 6:00pm this February 12, 2015. Qube Gallery is located at at the Henry Hotel, One Paseo, Ma. Luisa Road, Banilad, Cebu City.
