Strap – One for the City

Strap will celebrate its 1st year anniversary this October 3, 2014 at Jazzjoint. The party will start at 8pm and will have performances by Sefyla, Nyor, D.O.C., Qesinti, Dj Selecta Ghost and S.T.I.F.

Sefyla is a band influenced by acts like No Doubt, Save Ferris, The Marleys, Tanya Stephens, Erykah Badu, Nnekka, 311, Mishka, Eve, Hole, Flobots, Cynthia Alexander, John Petrucci, Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Hendrix, Steve Vai, Janis Joplin, Alanis Morissette, 4 Non Blondes, The Beatles, The Police, Blind Melon, and the respectable local music.

They are composed of Yapi Taneo on Vocals, Madel Cometa on Guitars, Vonay Sanchez on Bass, Lhord Borceson Guitar and Rey Mart Taneo on Drums.

Nyor was formed on July 2004 together with Thug faction called P.R.M. (pinoyreyalmaldito). They made their first public appearance on a band competition at Southwestern University and ranked second place. The second time they joined a band competition was when MTV hits Cebu was looking for new aspiring acts. This time the band won third place. The name Nyor came from the band neuronz and which most of the main line-up of the band came.

S.T.I.F. is a reggae band that started last November 2007. It was founded by four pioneering members, Jef, Anjing, Budok and Jason; who recruited a vocalist to do dancehall reggae covers which was officially fronted by Paul. As their band and music evolved they welcomed another MC, Jcoy, to complete the tandem act. After several line-up adjustments, the current members’ Marcu, Budok, Jason, Janjan, Kap, Kerk and both MC’s Paul and Jcoy are currently working on their original compositions. They had just recorded two of their initial demo tracks “Control” and ‘High Times”, which will fire the beginning towards working on their first album in the next few years.
