Star Wars VII Will Have Subtitle: The Force Awakens
The seventh installment in the great film franchise, “Star Wars,” will have the subtitle “The Force Awakens.”
Disney disclosed this on its Twitter account, and on the “Star Wars” official account, early Friday PHL time, GMA news Online reported.
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens has completed principal photography,” read the tweet at the “Star Wars,” report said.
It added that Tech site The Verge described the title as feeling “like a very classic Star Wars name, and it manages to create that feeling even without directly mimicking a prior title.”
Much of the cast from the original film – from nearly 40 years ago – has been brought back for this movie, it said.
Director J.J. Abrams pointed out Episode VII “is meant to feel like an extension of the original trilogy.”
“Regardless of what happens, there’s one thing clear about the title: it sounds like the beginning of something big — and that’s pretty fitting for the beginning of a new epic,” he added.
The film is scheduled for release December 2015.
