SRP To Be Closed For 30th SEA Games Torch Run on Nov 16
Motorists are advised to take alternate routes as the Cebu City Government will close the southbound lane of the South Road Properties (SRP) on Saturday, November 16, for the Cebu leg of the 30th SEA Games Torch Relay.
At exactly 2 in the afternoon, the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) will close the corner of F.Vestil Street in the vicinity of SM Seaside up to the boundary bridge of Cebu City and Talisay City.
The activity will kick off at 5 in the afternoon to be followed by a short lighting ceremony at the Block 5 of SM Seaside City Cebu.
Motorists can still use the northbound lane to get to the southern part of Cebu.
According to the CCTO, vehicles who wish to use the U-Turn slot below the bridge (Talisay Boundary) is also prohibited.
CCTO will also deploy traffic enforcer units to help with the traffic flow.
The 5-kilometer run will be joined by 6,000 runners including government employees, policemen, army, students and more. Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella will also participate in the said run. Ten torchbearer is also part of the 6,000 participants.
The 30th SEA Games scheduled from Nov. 30 to Dec. 11 will be joined by 11 nations – Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste and Vietnam.
A total of 56 sports competitions will be spread over four venue clusters in Clark, Subic, Manila and Tagaytay.
