SRP Developers to Pursue PHP2M Drainage Master Plan
At least three real estate giants developing properties at the Cebu City government-owned South Road Properties (SRP) will pursue an estimated PHP2-million drainage master plan to address flooding in the area.
Allan Alfon, Filinvest Land Inc (FLI) vice president for strategic business planning for Visayas and Mindanao, said the developers, namely, FLI, SM Prime Holdings Inc. and Ayala Land-Cebu Holdings Inc., will pursue the master plan.
Earlier, Engr. Jose Marie Poblete, Department of Engineering and Public Works (DEPW) chief, said the three developers no longer called for a meeting with them and the SRP Management Office in a month’s time supposedly to discuss the drainage master plan study.
Alfon said there were prior engagements among the company executives that they had to attend, which is why the meetings for the SRP masterplan did not take place, as Poblete said.
Poblete also said a representative from the developers had informed him that they will no longer undertake the project but that said his office has not received a formal letter about it.
Alfon said there was no letter submitted to the city expressing the developers’ disinterest in pursuing the master plan.
It was announced in August this year that the developers will commission Manila-based DCCD Engineering Corp. to undertake the project.
DCCD is an engineering consultancy firm behind the Shangri-la Mactan Island Resort and Spa and several high-rise buildings in Manila, including the RCBC Plaza in Makati City and Rockwell commercial and residential projects, among others.
Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama had sought the help of SRP developers to come up with a drainage master plan to solve flooding in the area. (PNA) CTB/EB/EDS
