SRA 20 Years
Struggle for Radical Action will celebrate its 20th year this Sinulog 2015 with the event – SRA 20 years this January 17, 2015 Saturday 3:00pm at FNB Labangon.
This punk show of all punk shows will feature Cebu’s best punk bands like Left of Center, Hard Feces, Minority Blocks, Pipe bomb land mines, One Man Down, Queen City Crew, Gardo, Boundary, Crooked, Deviants, Substance 32 and Pushed Aside.
The event will also feature Furtherance, Tiger Pussy, Toxic Orgasm, Ramonitos, Armed, Battle the Hardship, Starting Today, Thought, Destroyer of the Saved, Bikini Caught Fire, Embrace thy Pain, Rouge, Tampa, XZFX, The Penal Ties, Back at the Junkyard, Breech and Struggle Time.
The term “punk” was first used in relation to rock music by some American critics in the early 1970s, to describe garage bands and their devotees. By late 1976, bands such as the Sex Pistols, The Clash and The Damned in London, and Television, Patti Smith, and the Ramones in New York City were recognized as the vanguard of a new musical movement. For the most part, punk took root in local scenes that tended to reject association with the mainstream.
At the end of the 20th century, punk rock had been adopted by the mainstream, as pop punk bands such as Green Day, The Offspring and Blink-182 brought the genre widespread popularity.
