Spotify’s Highly Anticipated HiFi Audio May Finally Arrive Through a ‘Music Pro’ Tier This Year

Spotify users have been waiting for high-fidelity audio since 2021, and it looks like it might finally be on the way.
According to a Bloomberg report the streaming giant plans to introduce a new “Music Pro” add-on, giving users access to lossless, CD-quality sound—at an additional cost.
The feature, previously branded as “Spotify HiFi,” was originally announced years ago but never made it to subscribers, despite competing services like Apple Music and Amazon Music Unlimited already offering lossless audio.
Now, Spotify is reportedly planning to launch it under the Music Pro tier later this year, charging an extra USD5.99 per month on top of the existing Premium subscription.
Beyond high-fidelity audio, the Music Pro tier could also include an AI-powered remixing tool that allows users to blend songs from different artists. Additionally, Spotify is in talks with concert promoters and ticket sellers to offer exclusive ticketing perks, such as presales and better seats, to Music Pro subscribers. However, not all features might be available at launch. According to Bloomberg, Spotify intends to roll out these tools gradually over a year, testing and refining them along the way.
This move comes after Spotify’s latest price hike in June 2024, when the cost of an individual Premium plan increased from USD10.99 to USD11.99. With the introduction of Music Pro, the company may find new opportunities to push prices higher and introduce additional packages. (GFB)
