South LGUs Send P5M Worth of Reliefs to North
A convoy of at least 30 vehicles from 12 local government are currently moving to the northern part of Cebu to distribute P5 million worth of reliefs.
City of Naga Mayor Val Chiong said they will be handing out food packs to each 15 LGUs in the northern Cebu, which was badly hit by the super typhoon Yolanda, including those in the islands of Bantayan and Camotes.
Naga, which brought five vehicles, has allocated P100,000 per LGU for this project or a total sum of P1.2 million from its calamity funds.
“We’ve always been helping other LGUs even outside Cebu if there’s a calamity. That (was) why when we had a talk with the other mayors, we agreed to go there as one para mausa ra og tagak ang mga goods,” Chiong said.
Dalaguete Mayor Ronaldo Sesante said their town was spared from Yolanda’s wrath and as part of its thanksgiving, they decided to reach out to the affected towns. The Municipality of Dalaguete has prepared 1,700 packs for the Northern Cebu towns.
Apart from Naga and Dalaguete, the towns of Oslob, Sibonga, Carcar, Guinatilan, Malabuyoc, Aloguinsan, Alcoy, Moalboal and others have joined the convoy. The group will start from Sogod to Tabuelan and up to the last town in the north to give the reliefs to the local governments there.
