South Cebu Residents Avail of Capitol’s Medical and Surgical Mission
Pursuing the Capitol’s primary agenda on health and social services, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) headed to Oslob town in southern Cebu for its second stretch of medical and surgical mission conducted last February 12 to 17, 2018.
Amidst Tropical Depression (TD) Basyang, the surgical missions pushed through at the Oslob District Hospital as it served beneficiaries who were screened a week prior to the scheduled activity.
Oslob District Hospital chief Dr. Francis Kim Capate said the medical/surgical mission was a great opportunity for the people, especially those from distant areas, as they can avail of the free health services.
The medical mission started on Feb. 14, welcoming residents of south Cebu on a Valentine’s day morning with a full-force medical caravan together with the Department of Health at the Oslob Municipal Gym.
With the theme “Libreng Serbisyong Medikal alang sa Kahimsug sa Matag Sugbuanon,” the PHO provided free basic laboratory services, blood pressure and blood sugar monitoring, eye examinations, dental check-ups and services, and medical consultations with free medicines and vitamin supplements.
Dr. Rene Catan, chief of PHO, led the entire activity and encouraged people to continue availing of the Province’s health programs, the top priority of Gov. Hilario P. Davide III’s administration.
Catan also announced the availability of the total knee-cap replacement and cataracts removal surgeries, on top of the other services offered by province-run hospitals.
After south Cebu, the medical-surgical caravan will head to the Balamban town in midwest Cebu. Once again, PHO will be at the forefront of the activities during the Convergence of Provincial Services slated on March 19 to 24, 2018.
