Sony Xperia Tablet Z Now Available Worldwide
Sony has announced that its water-resistant Xperia Tablet Z is finally available across the globe through Sony’s retail and operator partners as well as online channels.
The Xperia Tablet Z is essentially a beefed-up version of the Xperia Z smartphone, with impressive specifications, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 1200×1920, equal to 224 ppi pixel density. Multitouch can support up to 10 pressure points at any one time, and also takes advantage of the Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2.
The tablet touts a quad-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8064 processor, along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It runs Android version 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean), although an upgrade to version 4.2 is already in the pipeline.
Along with a microSD slot, an 8.1-megapixel rear-facing camera – capable of shooting 1080p video at 30 frames per second, and a 2-megapixel HD front-facing snapper. It’s only 6.9mm thick and weighs just 495g. Sony claims this device is the thinnest and lightest in the category of 10-inch tablets that are waterproof.
Xperia Tablet Z is available in black or white finishes and in 4G or WiFi versions. Pricing varies depending on the region. However, the US version of the Sony store has the device listed for $499.99 in 16GB base model and $599.99 for the 32GB variant.
