Sony Unveils Two Compact Cameras with 4K and Great Zoom Range
Just last week, Sony introduced a pair of compact cameras in the HX-line especially appealing to people accustomed to smartphone photography.
These new models, the HX95 and HX99, contain expansive zoom options ranging from 24mm to 720mm and an added 4K shooting as well, making for capable cameras. More than that, the HX99 offers touch capabilities too.
These cameras are approximately the same size as an iPod and weight roughly half a pound like Sony’s RX100 cameras. The difference here is that the RX100 line utilizes a larger one-inch image sensor, whereas the newer models have a smaller 1/2.3-inch sensor. This weakens image quality, but it also allows for a really impressive zoom range.
These new versions also feature a pop-up viewfinder and a 3-inch back screen that can rotate at a maximum of 180 degrees for optimal selfie shots.
If you’re searching for a good compact camera but don’t want to spend 1000 or so USD for the new RX100 series cameras, then Sony’s HX-line is a great alternative with HX95 and HX99 costing 580 USD and 604 USD, respectively.
