SoKor Gives US$130,000 Worth of Relief Goods to Iloilo
After pledging $5 million comprehensive assistance to help the survivors of Yolanda and dispatching a disaster relief team last week, the South Korean Government has delivered $130,000 worth of relief goods also to the typhoon victims in the province of Iloilo.
The relief goods arrived via three C-130 cargo planes of the Republic of Korea Armed Forces with representatives from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA)last November 20 and yesterday.
According to KOICA Senior Deputy Representative in the Philippines Kim Young Ran, the aid is a simple gesture of their concern of the predicament of the Filipino people, and is their “modest contribution for the people of Iloilo that will help in their recovery”.
Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. said that the donations will be properly distributed to the survivors in their towns. The distribution will be spearheaded by the Iloilo Provincial Social Welfare Office.
The northern Iloilo towns of Ajuy, Balasan, Barotac Viejo, Batad, Carles, Concepcion, Estancia, Lemery, San Dionisio, San Rafael, and Sara will also be included.
Meanwhile, foreign help also arrived in some areas of Panay Island last week.
