Soc Will Not Surrender Joavan
Talisay City Mayor Socrates Fernandez earlier today declared that he will only surrender his son, Joavan, if there is a court order.
“If I will surrender him to the police, it will only mean admission of guilt,” Fernandez told reporters.
Fernandez had earlier assured that he would turn over Joavan to the police today after the latter was implicated in a shooting incident last weekend. But today, the third-term mayor had a change of heart saying he would only do so once the police could produce a court order or a warrant of arrest.
Apparently, victim Eduardo Largo, as of this writing, has yet to file a criminal case against the controversial mayor’s son. Largo, 36, accused Joavan of shooting him last Friday dawn while he was in a car shop in Barangay San Isidro, Talisay City. Largo sustained a gun shot wound in his right arm and leg, but was already discharged from the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center shortly after he was rushed there.
Meanwhile, Talisay City Police Station chief Elmer Lim the order for a manhunt operation against Joavan is still on going.
