Shoes of Peace
I’ve never met a woman that said when she was a little girl, she hoped to grow up and be stressed out and anxious all the time, overwhelmed with the demands that come with a growing family and never experiencing peace. So why are so many women living life without peace and feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, fear, and stress?
When we’re living without our peace shoes on, we’re actually setting ourselves up to be overwhelmed and distracted, an easy target for our enemy.
When our peace shoes are not on our feet, we so easily trip and slip, causing even greater damage to our lives and those around us. When we’re lacking peace, it creates a ripple effect to our spouse, children, parents, and friends. Shoes are created for the sole purpose of protecting our feet while we’re in motion. Our peace shoes need to be in motion with us, staying on our feet the entire day.
Peace is not just a state of mind, it’s an action. God’s peace is showcased best in the midst of chaos and turmoil, always available, regardless of our surroundings or circumstances. When we choose peace in the midst of difficulty, we are actually taking a firm stand that we believe what God is offering us is better than the lies of the enemy. The enemy excels at creating chaos and turmoil in hopes of drawing us away from God and the peace He alone can offer.
Jesus knew the difficulties and struggles His followers were going to face once He returned to Heaven. In John 14:27 He gives us His own peace and then tells us four times in this one verse to not let or allow ourselves to be troubled, fearful, or intimidated.
Fear, worry, anxiety, and stress are all a choice. We have to be the one to stand firm, ready to fight for the peace Jesus has promised us. The enemy is not going to let you claim your peace without a fight; we have to be alert and ready for the enemy’s attempts to steal our peace away.
It makes our enemy nervous when women choose to accept the peace God has won for us. No one can choose peace for you; you have to be the one to take an active role in standing firm and choosing peace over the lies the enemy is sending your way.
