Shift Will Get Real at the UP Cookout 2014

Get ready for another night of rockin’ and rollin’ at this year’s UP Cookout 2014 entitled “Mayday: Shift Just Got Real”.

Catch national artist, Urbandub, perform live on Friday, October 24 along with other local bands and talents such as Skankin Brews, Foc Fashion, Snubear, Womb, the Wonggoys, Gestalt, Jetlag, Micmic and the Three Legged Men, Band-aid, Dama de Noche, Kapamilya Mas Winner Ka host – Roy Empleo, MagTV host – Phoebe Kaye Fernandez and the first ever winner of the Visayan Pop Musical Festival Jewel Villaflores.

Cookout, contrary to popular belief, doesn’t literally mean ‘cooking out’ nowadays. Although it started as a mini-gathering with food on the school grounds, it boomed up to an annual mini-concert event that highlights current societal issues through a showcase of talents.

This year’s theme presents the issue of the Academic Calendar Shift – the controversial decision to change the school year to August until June. This is a change from the old June to March schedule in time for the ASEAN 2015 Integration. Students will then try to interpret this issue through presentations in the four segments – Rampahan, Bandahan, Sayawan and Kantahan.

UP Cookout 2014: “Mayday! Shift Just Got Real” would not be possible without Co-Presenters: Hotel Stella, Skin Perfection, International Pharmaceuticals Inc. (IPI) and Bugrock; Major Sponsor Hanz Coquila; Minor Sponsors: Virginia Food Inc., JCo Donuts, FF Sibi, Cebu Parklane International Hotel, Leylam Shawarma,Teng’s Sisig; and Benefactors: Globe, CMLC, Coterie and Penumbra, and Cebu Capitol Lions Club.
