Shabu Found Inside ‘Torta’
Just barely a week since two inmates of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) were found to have in possession with drug paraphernalia, another inmate was discovered with shabu concealed inside “torta” within the jail facility.
According to the Capitol’s Public Information Office, during a routine inspection at the CPDRC, inmate Norlynn Suico, 40, was reportedly discovered in possession of two small packs of what is believed were shabu.
The inspection was conducted following the discovery of drug paraphernalia from inmates Geno Pilapil and Alan Pilapil last week.
Suico came from a hearing at the Regional Trial Court branch 26 in Argao town when the inspection was made, in which it was discovered that the illegal drug was concealed inside the packs of torta, the town’s delicacy.
Suico said his mother, who handed him the packs of food, was only asked by the relatives of CPDRC detainees who came from Argao to bring them the delicacy.
The torta packs were labeled with names of the detainees.
He added that he just left for CPDRC after eating his lunch, without checking that there were packs with no names.
Suico was placed under isolation following the incident.
Meanwhile, a criminal case is set to be filed against the suspect before the prosecutor’s office today.
