Senate Vote On Marcos Burial, Pangilinan Explains Vote
Voting 8-6-6, the Senate on Monday failed to decide on expressing its view that the former dictator Ferdinand Marcos should not be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
Those who voted in favor of Akbayan Senator Risa Hontiveros’s Senate Resolution 86 were Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, Senators Hontiveros, Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, Franklin Drilon, Leila de Lima, Grace Poe, Bam Aquino, and Joel Villanueva.
Those who voted against were Senators Richard Gordon, Gregorio Honasan, Panfilo Lacson, Manny Pacquiao, Tito Sotto, and Cynthia Villar.
Those who abstained were Senator Sonny Angara, Nancy Binay, Chiz Escudero, Win Gatchalian, Ralph Recto, and Migz Zubiri.
Senate Resolution 86 “express[es] the sense of the Senate that the crimes of the former President Ferdinand Marcos to the Republic, and the human rights violations committed under his regime, render him unfit to be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.”
