Senate Recommends Plunder Charges Vs. Senators Enrile, Estrada, Revilla
The Senate blue ribbon committee draft report on Tuesday recommended plunder charges against Senators Ramon Bong Revilla Jr., Jinggoy Estrada and Juan Ponce Enrile over the alleged multibillion-peso pork barrel controversy.
Blue Ribbon committee chairperson Teofisto Guingona III has presented said draft to the media where he also recommended the three senators to face an ethics committee investigation for possible sanctions over their alleged involvement in the scam. The draft report also recommended disbarment proceedings for Enrile and his former chief of staff, lawyer Jessica “Gigi” Reyes.
The draft report still needs to be approved by members of the blue ribbon committee. The three senators and Reyes are already facing plunder charges before the Office of the Ombudsman for allegedly pocketing the kickbacks from the alleged scam, supposedly masterminded by detained businesswoman Janet Lim-Napoles, reports said.
Senators Enrile, Estrada and Revilla earlier denied involvement in the said scam, which involved funneling billions of pesos from the Priority Development Assistance Fund of lawmakers to dubious projects and NGOs.
