Security Bank Experiences Internal System Issues
Security Bank on Wednesday announced that it “encountered a delay in posting banking transactions on our systems” but assured clients’ that their deposits remain safe.
“We continue to perform system maintenance activities to address this and expect our systems to be fully updated by close of business today,” the bank said in a statement.
The statement was issued a few days after some customers of Sy-led Banco de Oro Unibank Inc. (BDO) claimed of losing money due to automated teller machine (ATM) skimming and weeks after Ayala-led Bank of the Philippine Island (BPI) said internal system glitch caused erroneous reporting of their account holders’ transactions between April 28 to May 2, 2017.
Security Bank said “the delay in posting banking transactions does not and will not impact the financial integrity of our customers’ accounts.”
“While some services were affected, the delay did not prevent our customers from accessing their funds,” it said as it apologized to its account holders.
“Suffice it to say, all bank branches and customer service representatives are ready to attend to and accommodate any and all transactions as necessary,” it said, adding that it’s branches will provide services up to 7 p.m. Wednesday. (Joann Santiago/PNA)
