Sea Jeepneys to Start Sailing The Cebu City – Naga Route
Good news to all residents of Cebu City and towns in southern Cebu! A sea jeepney will now travel the Cebu City – Naga City route starting Monday, October 28.
MyBoat, which is under the MCE Shipping Lines, will transport passengers from Pier 1 in Cebu City to Barangay East Poblacion in Naga City.
The main purpose of MyBoat is to provide easier and convenient transportation for people who wanted to go home fast since the travel time will be 45 minutes to 1 hour.
On October 28, MV Nicole Express will be the first vessel to transport passengers from Cebu City to the City of Naga. The vessel has a 45 seating capacity including the staff.
MyBoat will have 10 trips per day and the first trip will start as early as 5:30 a.m. However, the maiden voyage on October 28 will start on 7:30 a.m.
MCE Shipping Lines Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Nelso Mejia, Jr. said that they recently acquired the certificate of public convenience and provisional authority from the Maritime Authority Industry Central Visayas (MARINA)-7 to officially allow them to operate.
The design of the MyBoat is open-air, just like any other normal jeepney. Passengers will be able to enjoy the sea view while traveling.
Meanwhile, passengers will have to prepare P60 for the fare. The 20% discount for students, persons with disabilities (PWDs) and senior citizens will be honored.
The management of MCE Shipping Lines also revealed that they are still planning to add more vessels and to also add more routes. They also said that they are now planning to put up a new route in the northern part of Cebu. (MLC)
