Scan Your Food With This Gadget To See Calories
SCiO is a pocket-sized molecular sensor that allows you to scan food and get the analyzed food’s chemical makeup directly to your smartphone. It is patented by Consumer Physics Inc., a startup based in Israel.
With SCiO, you can get nutritional facts about different kinds of food, for example, you can find out the quality of your cooking oil or you can see how ripe an Avocado is through the peel, and more.
The company begun a Kickstarter campaign to raise $200,000 toward the project. More than 11,000 people have pledged their support, reaching almost $2.5 million to fund the project.
Backers will receive the SCiO when it ships in December 2014.
